Pole positions for Herlings and Desalle
Jeffrey Herlings and Clement Desalle won the qualifying heats in the English Matterley Basin. Due to the heavy rainfall yesterday and last night, the timetable was adjusted slightly this morning. Both MX2 and MXGP received 1 free practice followed by qualifying practice.
However, there was no heavy rain today and the course was in excellent condition for the qualifying series. In the MX2 class, Herlings was quickly able to outpace Butron and rode to victory unthreatened. Behind him we saw a nice duel between Butron, Febvre, Anstie, Ferrandis and Tonus. Ultimately it was Ferrandis who crossed the line second, followed by Anstie, Tonus and Febvre. Julien Lieber became the first compatriot in 12th place while Graulus finished 14th after a fall.

In the MXGP class, Clement Desalle immediately wanted to continue the Spanish line. He took the holeshot and immediately took off to take his first pole position of the year. He clearly enjoyed himself on the circuit and did not tolerate any resistance. Shaun Simpson came in a strong second and Antonio Cairoli third. Cairoli was only able to pass Joel Roelants at the very last moment, who rode in third place for the entire race after a good start. Kevin Strijbos finished ninth, Ken de Dycker 13th and Jeremy van Horebeek 16th. Van Horebeek fell during the heat and had to deal with some technical problems. He used the pit lane twice and ultimately had to settle for this 16th position. Jeremy Delince finished 23rd on his MXGP debut, but initially rode strongly in 13th place when he made a mistake just after the halfway mark and lost many places.
