Jago Geerts is crowned as ONK Champion in Rhenen
The 85 tsp championship was allowed to open the course in Rhenen, which had been well saved from the rain. With our compatriot Jago Geerts we immediately had an iron in the fire for victory. The Balenaar immediately lived up to his status in the first round and this ahead of his major competitor Jorge Prado Gracia and Roan van de Moosdijk. In the second heat we saw the more than fun duel between Jago Geerts and eternal rival Jorge Prado Garcia. The two youngsters changed positions several times. Ultimately it was Jago Geerts, also the winner of the first heat, who also took the lead. This for the Spaniard and Roan van de Moosdijk. With this, Jago Geerts not only wins the ONK round in Rhenen, but he also crowns himself ONK champion in the 85cc class one round before the end.
At the singing one 125 tsp machines they were ready for a real demonstration by Davy Pootjes. The KTM Jongeling clearly showed his dominance and clearly won the first series by a large margin. The second series of the 125cc boys was as great a demonstration as the previous one. We saw a sublimely driving Davy Pootjes. The KTM Factory pilot built up a huge lead over the HSF Logistics man Noud van Kraaj. Who in turn held off the first Belgian in the match, Cyril Genot.
In the first series MX2 we got the expected winner, Jeffrey Herlings. The KTM Red Bull pilot and current leader in the world championship was able to dominate the race from start to finish on the beautiful Rhenen circuit. This for Aleksandr Tonkov, who managed to fight his way to second place after starting in the top five. Third was the strong driving Brian Bogers. The HSF Logistics pilot was able to hold his own among the Grand Prix toppers and stayed ahead of the leader in the ONK, Romain Febvre. He managed to overtake Petar Petrov in the last lap due to an unfortunate action by a straggler. The Bulgarian was 'not amused' after the finish. In the second round of the extremely high-quality MX2 class we got a great start for Jeffrey Herlings. The two-time world champion thus laid the foundation for dominating the competition from start to finish. Behind the man in form we saw Romain Febvre, Brian Bogers, Lars Van Berkel, Aleksandr Tonkov, Brent Vandoninck compete with each other to ultimately finish Romain Febvre second ahead of his teammate Aleksandr Tonkov, Brian Bogers, Brent Vandoninck and Lars van Berkel.
De MX1 class had a nice battle in the first round between the quartet Ceriel Klein Kromhof, Shaun Simpson, Marc De Reuver and Filip Bengtsson. The first to drop out was Filip Bengtsson, the Swede lost his damper from the KTM. Then it was Shaun Simpson who had to fill the role. This gave us an interesting match between CKK and Marc De Reuver. A duel that remained exciting until the last round and was only then settled in favor of the old age dean, De Reuver. Klein Kromhof finished second ahead of Shaun Simpson, Herjan Brakke and William Saris. In the second round of the MX1, Marc De Reuver shot off like a cannonball, soon being joined by Shaun Simpson, Ceriel Klein Kromhof and Filip Bengtsson. Moments later, however, De Reuver shook off Shaun Simpson and CKK. This left only the pressure of Filip Bengtsson, who had extra energy due to a DNF in the first moto. The two fighters started the duel, Filip Bengtsson tried to follow the high pace of Marc De Reuver, but the pace was just too high for the Swede. He finished second ahead of Shaun Simpson, Rene Albers and Ceriel Klein Kromhof. The victory of the day therefore logically goes to Calimero De Reuver.
