World Championship Enduro Salsona
Last weekend the World Enduro Championships started in Salsona, Spain. This competition, which consisted of a super special and two competition days, immediately brought the necessary excitement and spectacle.
In the SuperSpecial, BETA rider Johnny Aubert immediately left everyone behind him. He showed that the BETA engine is competitive and should be taken into account.
In the E1 class on Saturday, victory went to reigning E3 champion Christophe Nambotin. The KTM rider had a 14 second lead over his teammate Cristobal Guerrero and fellow countryman Jeremy Tarroux. Our northern neighbors Lucs Dolfing and Thierry Pittens finished 14th and 15th.
In the E2 class, reigning champion Antoine Meo quickly showed that he wants to defend his title and will be the man to beat. He preceded his compatriots Johnny Aubert and Pierre Alexandre Renet. Here too, the Netherlands had a representative with Robin Nijkamp in 14th place.
Finally, the E3 class was a perfect fit for home driver Ivan Cervantes. The KTM rider won ahead of Australian Matthew Phillips and France's Mathias Bellino.
On the final day, Christophe Nambotin was again the fastest in E1. This time he preceded Anthony Boissiere on the Sherco. The Finn Remes Eero came third. Lucas Dolfing finished 15th. Nambotin also becomes the first leader for Guerrero, Boissiere, Remes and Tarroux.
On the last day, Antoine Meo was 1 second short of winning this day as well. This time the victory went to P-A Renet on the Husqvarna. Aubert finished third and Jonathan Barragan, who made his Enduro debut in Spain, finished fourth. In the standings, Meo takes the lead ahead of Renet, Aubert, Santolino and Alex Salvini. Jonathan Barragan ends the first weekend in seventh place and Robin Nijkamp in 14th place.
Finally, in E3, victory in day 2 once again went to Ivan Cervantes. He won ahead of Matti Seistola, Matthew Philips, Luis Correia and Aigar Leok. Cervantes takes the lead ahead of Phillips and Seistola.
The next race will be held next weekend in Vale de Cambra, Portugal.
