Jeffrey Herlings takes his 35th GP victory!
Jeffrey Herlings took his 35th GP victory of his career in Sevlievo, Bulgaria. This victory brings him within four points of the leader in the standings, the Swiss Arnaud Tonus, who finished second. Third place went to Jordi Tixier who took his first podium place of the season. Somewhat disappointing was the third man in the World Championship standings, Glenn Coldenhoff, who did not get further than seventh place twice.
Herlings gratefully takes advantage of Tonus' mistake...
It was Romain Febvre who took the holeshot ahead of Tixier, Butron and Ferrandis. We got Jeffrey Herlings and Arnaud Tonus in fifth and seventh place after the start. Already in the opening round we immediately got a new leader with Jordi Tixier. But Herlings and Tonus had also already moved up one place. Tonus seemed to be the eagerest because he moved over Herlings and Febvre to second place in one lap. At the front, Tixier was able to hold the lead for six laps, but then had to let Tonus pass. Herlings also had to respond and moved into second place over his teammate Tixier. Tonus seemed to be driving to the series victory until he made a mistake with four laps to go and we got Herlings in the lead. The Dutchman did not relinquish this and won this first series ahead of Tonus and Tixier. Glenn Coldenhoff, who was second in the standings, only finished seventh. We also got Julien Lieber in eleventh place and Mathias Plessers was classified in twenty-fourth.

Herlings keeps Tonus under control!!!
Before the start of this second series we had to deal with some rain, so the circuit became a bit slippery. It was once again Romain Febvre who took the holeshot ahead of Tonus and Butron. Arnaud Tonus immediately took the lead ahead of Herlings and Butron. But Herlings also immediately went on the attack and took the lead from Tonus. These two gentlemen immediately drove away from third man Romain Febvre. Tonus stayed close to Herlings throughout the series, but started to increase the pressure a bit with 5 minutes +2 laps left. Febvre, who was still riding solidly in third place, crashed three laps from the end and lost a certain podium place to Jordi Tixier. In the ultimate last two rounds, Tonus launched another attack on Herlings' position. But the KTM-Red Bull rider kept Tonus under control and thus also took charge of this second series. Tonus came second ahead of Tixier, Ferrandis and the unfortunate Febvre. Our compatriot Julien Lieber crashed at the start and eventually finished eighteenth, Mathias Plessers finished twenty-fourth again.
