The supermoto season has started!
Last weekend the first supermoto of the season took place. The best supermoto riders in the world descended on the otherwise quiet village of Rivesaltes in the south of France, close to the Mediterranean Sea. This circuit had already hosted the French championship the previous week and was therefore already well prepared for the GP.
The Chareyre brothers are too strong
Both Thomas and Adrien Chareyre are in top form. The French brothers managed to finish both heats first and second. Thomas on his TM machine came out on top. Adrien, who rides an Aprilia, came second twice. The Finn Mauno Hermunen finished third twice and was logically third on the podium.
Dutch victory in the SM2 class
Our Northern neighbors can be proud, Devon Vermeulen took victory with a perfect score in the SM2 class, which is officially not a World Cup but a European Championship. He always sent his TM across the finish line first ahead of Fabrizio Bartolini. The Italian is also the only Honda rider on the podium this weekend. Asseri Kingelin from Finland was always the third fastest of the entire pack and was able to ride to the podium on his Aprilia.
GP supermoto in Zolder?
It looks like we will have a GP on the Zolder grounds during the weekend of July 19 and 20. After the cancellation of the GP in Mettet, Belgian supermotard fans can still look forward to a GP in the country. This is the only GP in the lowlands, so it goes without saying that many Dutch, Devon Vermeulen fans will travel to Belgium. More about the GP in Zolder later this week MxMag.be!
The second GP of the season will take place during the weekend of May 17 & 18 in Siriei, Romania.
