Busy, busy, busy… but we love it!
Very busy times are coming for the motocross enthusiast in the lowlands. What the New Year's period is in cyclocross is the Easter period in motocross, or at least this year. For example, from April 26 to May 4 (9 days), there will be 6 days of motocross! Remember what the best news about this is? MxMag.be will report on EACH of these matches, in case you just can't cope anymore and prefer your sofa. So don't forget ours Facebook en Twitter keep an eye out for constant updates! We list all the matches for you.
April 26 ONK in Axel
The third match of the Dutch Open Championship is scheduled for about a half-hour drive from Ghent. Mike Kras and Marc de Reuver are involved in an epic battle for the Dutch MX1 title, and Tyla Rattray and Todd Waters will also be at the start. In MX2 we have Jeffrey Herlings, Glenn Coldenhoff and the Wilvo Negaan team ready to compete in the sand of Zeeland. In the 125cc class, we Belgians can cheer for Cyril Genot, Bryan Engelen and a number of other talents who quickly cross the border. And in the 85cc class, the Belgian super talent Jago Geerts is involved in the title battle!
April 27 International motocross in Wuustwezel
A number of top riders will start in Kevin Strijbos' home base during the 44th international motocross. About 20 GP riders will give the best of themselves to win this classic, about a half-hour drive from Antwerp. Some names are; Kevin Strijbos, Jeffrey Herlings, Glenn Coldenhoff, Joël Roelants, Max Nagl, Romain Febvre, Valentin Guillod… and the list goes on! So it looks like we're going to have a great weekend.
April 29 Electric motocross in Zolder
A quiet but spectacular match will now take place on the otherwise noisy site in Zolder. For example, some of the best GP riders will compete against each other on the KTM Freeride E, an electric dirt bike. Last year, Stefan Everts came out on top when he forced Jake Nichols into an error. The ten-time world champion was the strongest in this fun format where the competition took place over 5 rounds. The spectacle will not be bad off the track either, as a Tomorrowland DJ will push the RedBull truck to its limits!
May 1, second BMMX of the season in Moerbeke-Waas
For the first time in 3 years, the best motocross riders from Belgium are returning to East Flanders. This is the merit of AMC de Scheldeland, which organizes the second match for the Belgian championship in Moerbeke-Waas. Here we are already assured of the participation of names such as; Jeremy Van Horebeek, Kevin Strijbos and Joël Roelants. Who else will join us here? Who knows, but we have already seen in Mons that these three gentlemen do not give anything as a gift to each other.
May 3-4 the MXGP of Valkenswaard
We will close with a big bang. Just across the border, an hour's drive from Antwerp, the Valkenswaard GP is on the program. Of course, I don't have to tell you who is at the start here. What remains to be seen is whether Jeffrey Herlings can remain undefeated in Valkenswaard with his current form. Since the age of 15, when Jeffrey rode his third GP of his life there, he has been undefeated in the Valkenswaard sand. In fact, the Brabander has not yet lost a single series there, another surprising statistic from 'De Bullit'. In the MXGP class Cairoli will have a very difficult time with Jeremy Van Horebeek who can handle the sand quite well and pretty much rides for his own people, just across the border!
In short, it will be busy, busy, busy… But we couldn't wish for better! Now let's hope that the motocross gods and the weather gods will sit around the table and give us an unforgettable 10 days!
