Antonio Cairoli the best in Bulgaria…
Antonio Cairoli has won the Bulgarian Grand Prix for the first time in the MXGP class. It had been since 2007 that Cairoli was able to win another GP in Sevlievo, but in the MX2 class. Second place went to Gautier Paulin, who won the first series, but only finished fourth in the second series. The third podium place went to Jeremy Van Horebeek, who finished second in the second series on a difficult and slippery Sevlievo circuit. Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos finished fourth and fifth in the final tally of the Grand Prix…
Paulin unthreatened to victory in the first series!!!
Antonio Cairoli took the holeshot in this first series ahead of Paulin and Desalle. But already in the opening lap Paulin took the lead from Cairoli. The biggest casualty in this opening round was Qualifying Race winner Max Nagl. The German crashed together with Frossard and Nicholls and therefore had to give chase. Our Belgians did well after the start and we got Van Horebeek, Strijbos and Desalle in the top five. Not much happened in this top five and Paulin kept the reigning World Champion Cairoli at a distance of about five seconds. Only between the Belgians there was a position change with Jeremy Van Horebeek who made a mistake on three laps and Strijbos ended up in third place. At the front, Paulin managed to maintain control and won this first series ahead of Cairoli and the Belgian trio Strijbos, Van Horebeek and Desalle. Max Nagl and Steven Frossard would eventually just finish in the top ten. Joel Roelants crashed twice in the opening round and drove back to the paddock halfway through the race.

Antonio Cairoli best mud devil…!!!
Due to the rainfall, the circuit looked a bit different than in the first series. Once again it was Antonio Cairoli who managed to take the holeshot ahead of Nagl and Desalle. We got the winner of the opening series Paulin in fifth place. In the third lap Clement Desalle made a slide and had to leave second place to Jeremy Van Horebeek. Kevin Strijbos had a poorer start, but slowly entered the top five and even started to put some pressure on Paulin. Due to the rainfall, the circuit became increasingly slippery and the ruts became increasingly deeper. Halfway through the race, Cairoli already had an eight-second lead over our compatriot Van Horebeek. The Italian had everything under control on this unpredictable circuit. Desalle tried to threaten Van Horebeek in the final laps, but the “Jerre” was able to absorb it well and regained some lead over the Rockstar Suzuki pilot. Cairoli convincingly won this second series ahead of Van Horebeek, Desalle and Paulin. Kevin Strijbos finished fifth and Joel Roelants took fourteenth place in this second series.
