Who else but Antonio Cairoli will win the second round of the Italian championship. The 7-time world champion won both the MX1 race and the super final. In the MX1 we also saw how our compatriot Jeremy Van Horebeek took second place. Australian Todd Waters completed the top 3.
In the MX2 class it was France on top. Jordi Tixier won the MX2 series with a 13-second lead over compatriot Christophe Charlier. Kawasaki factory pilot Alessandro Lupino was the 3rd man on the podium. Compatriot Kevin Fors finished a very good 7th and Northern neighbor Lars van Berkel crossed the line in 14th.
In the super final we received another demonstration from Antonio Cairoli. He crossed the finish line with an 18 second lead. Van Horebeek pushed his factory Yamaha towards second place. Todd Waters was again third. Jordi Tixier was the fastest MX2 rider in 7th place. Pauls Jonass finished 11th and is therefore surprisingly 2nd MX2 rider. The annual Supercross was held for the 20th time in Herning, Denmark. With Mike Kras, Nick Kouwenberg, Dave Versluis and Jurgen Wybo at the start, there was a considerable delegation from Belgium and the Netherlands. On Friday, the first evening, Kras and Kouwenberg had bad luck. Both failed to finish. Wybo and Versluis finished eighth and sixth. The winner on Friday was named Thomas Ramette who defeated the handsome Florent Richier and Adrien Lopes.
On Saturday, the Danes saw Florent Richier win narrowly ahead of Charles LeFrancois, and third place went to Mickael Musquin. The boys from the Low Countries, especially Kras and Kouwenberg, had a better day on Saturday. Kras finished eighth just ahead of his compatriot Kouwenberg who finished ninth. Wybo, who reached the final for the second night in a row, ended the weekend with a 'Did Not Finish'.
With his second place on Friday and his first on Saturday, Florent Richier immediately became the new King of Herning! The second and third places in the overall overall ranking went to fellow Frenchmen Charles LeFrancois and Romain Berthome.
In addition to all this, the Wintercross of Groesbeek was also held in the Netherlands. Our compatriot Nick Triest managed to win both series in the Inter class and that put him ahead of Rene Albers and Eric Leijtens in the final result.
