Xavier Boog to 24MX Honda Racing!
24MX Honda is proud to announce the arrival of Xavier Bow to announce. The fast Frenchman will go wide Jens Getteman competing on the Honda CRF450R in the MXGP class. After a transitional season in 2013, Steven Lettani's GP-winning team will once again become Honda's official support team in the queen class of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
For Boog, 2014 will be his 5thde season at the highest level. The 25-year-old pilot has developed into an established figure and is known for his regularity. Xavier has two French MX1 titles to his name and finished 7th three timesde in the MX1 World Championship from 2010 to 2012. He won one MX3 GP, scored a series victory in MX1 and was already selected twice for the French MXON Team.
Developing talented riders remains an important part of 24MX Honda's philosophy. Belgian Jens Getteman (20) is starting his second World Championship campaign on the Honda CRF450R. In his debut season in MX1, the former Belgian MX2 champion was not doing well. Plagued by injuries, Jens had to miss many GPs, but he managed to get into the spotlight in the spring competitions and with a win in the repechage competitions in Qatar and Thailand.
Xavier Bow: “First and foremost, I am very happy that I have found a good team. At 24MX Honda Racing I will work with Luc Bruggeman again, which is certainly a plus. Luc was my mechanic on the Kawasaki factory team and he is one of the most experienced mechanics in the paddock. Actually, I've never ridden a Honda in my career. I know it sounds a bit strange considering their excellent reputation, but Honda is really the only bike I've never raced! That's another reason why I'm looking forward to this new chapter. In a few weeks I will get the green light to start driving again! I am very curious about the 24MX Honda CRF450R.”
Jens Getteman: “I'm really looking forward to 2014. The collaboration with 24MX Honda went well and the bike is perfect for me. Mentally it was difficult because I was sidelined for so long this season, but my motivation is greater than ever. The positive steps that the team is now taking and having a strong teammate like Xavier Boog next to me also give me a boost. That… And seeing Team Belgium win at the Motocross of Nations! It would be great to reach that level ourselves in a few years.”
Steven Lettani, 24MX Honda team owner and manager: “We are ready to hit the ground running and more than ever we are proud to be part of the Honda family! Due to the many injuries, 2013 turned out to be a disappointing season. On the other hand, we had been well spared from injuries in recent years. The fact that we can now present our partners and supporters with a strong driver duo for 2014 and that we are also renewing our relationship with Honda is absolutely fantastic! I'm sure Xavier (Boog) can show great things at the CRF. As for Jens (Getteman), we agreed that he deserves a second chance. But the competition is fierce at this level. There is a lot of talent in the MXGP class and now it is time for Jens to show what he is worth.”
Roger Harvey, Off Road manager, Honda Motor Europe: “We are happy to be working with Steven Lettani and the 24MX Honda team again. Of course, the results over the past two seasons have been disappointing, but we know what the team is capable of. That is why we are very excited about this new chapter in our collaboration. Xavier is a rider we have been following for several years. I am convinced that his precise, flowing style suits the Honda. Boog has both the experience and the speed to achieve strong results. 2014 will be an important year for Jens. It was the right choice to switch to the 450, but he has had a lot of bad luck. His driving style is already there, now it's up to him to confirm the potential we see in him!”
