Comments from the best motocross riders in the world!
Joël Smets: 'This was the craziest match I have ever experienced! At the start of the last moto I saw our chances go up in smoke when Clement crashed. I immediately went to see him in the emergency room and didn't even think about victory anymore. When I heard after half an hour that we were still in the lead, I could hardly believe it. The last laps were really fantastic and a big congratulations to the pilots. I am so happy !'
Jeremy van Horebeek: 'I was very nervous in my first moto, but it went quite well. In the second moto I crashed and thought it was over. However, I didn't hang my head and gave everything I had. I was able to return from 34th to 7th place and was satisfied with what I did today. It was a challenge to get back on the MX2 bike. When Clement fell, all hope was in Ken's hands and I watched very nervously. Winning the nations is a childhood dream and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this victory.'
Ken de Dycker: 'The last series was so stressful. I didn't know that Clement had dropped out and I didn't find him on the track either. In the pit lane they kept writing that I had to get as many points as possible. The circuit was very difficult, but I felt much better in the second heat than in the first. Fortunately it turned out well and we took the win.
Clement Desalle: 'It's a shame I can't enjoy the victory so much. I'm happy that we finally got the win, but I also have a lot of pain in my shoulder. My first heat was good despite some problems at the start. In the second series I immediately fall and it's over. It's a pity that I sustained an injury during the very last series of the season. Anyway, I'll try to enjoy the victory as much as possible tonight and then go to the doctor as soon as possible tomorrow. I would like to thank the entire Belgian team for this great achievement. '
