Preview BMMX Mont Saint Guibert
This weekend the last round of the Belgian Masters of Moto X will be held in Mont Saint Guibert. A downside for the organization, however, is that Ken De Dycker is already in Orp-Le-Grand as Belgian MX1 Champion. After reading this preview, this will appear to be no reason for fans to remain absent from the beautiful site in Mont Saint Guibert.
The organizing club “RMC Pierreux” has made this competition a permanent fixture on the Belgian calendar. In addition, they always know one interesting list of participants to snare. This year, in addition to the usual names such as our Belgians and also the Grand Prix winner from Lierop, Shaun Simpson, Cyril Coulon, Mika Musquin (brother of), Thomas Allier and Cédric Soubeyras will be at the starting gate.
This club has also built up a great reputation when we talk about a course. With the exception of one edition, which was boycotted due to weeks of rain, the drivers and fans have always had a round that could count on much support. Some even talked about a micro Glenn Helen! A wonderful compliment that can count.
It remains to be seen who will fight for victory on the beautiful course. We already have three names that we will keep an eye on. Kevin Strijbos because he showed that he is indeed in super shape, Shaun Simpson because the Scot will be riding around on clouds after his first MX1 Grand Prix victory and then Ken De Dycker who perhaps wants to show one last time that the fuss around his MXON is mainly 'nonsense in packages'.
Of course we cannot forget Ken De Dycker' Motocross of Nations teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek and also the Honda pilots Evgeny Bobryshev and Cédric Soubeyras! These three are perhaps, besides the “favourites”, the biggest “outsiders” for the last BMMX victory of the season.
Monster Energy Trophy
In the Monster Energy Trophy, or the Inters MX2, the battle is still completely open for the Belgian title. Tervuren resident Damon Graulus dominated most of his matches, but also had to deal with bad luck several times. This now partly ensures that Jesper Johnsson (17 points) and even mathematically Dietger Damiaans (41 points) still compete for the Belgian title in Mont Saint Guibert.
So we will be looking forward to Sunday's matches with great anticipation. Who keeps their coolest head? Will we have a fair battle between the youngsters or will we have a razor-sharp battle?! A thriller, so to speak?
