Kemea Reytec vd Laar Yamaha with Luke Styke!
The Kemea Reytec van de Laar Yamaha team proudly presents its riders in the Motocross World Championship for next season. 19-year-old Petar Petrov signed for next season and will continue his hunt for the top 2014 in the MX5 class in 2. He will be joined in the team by Australian Luke Styke. The 21-year-old Styke, who narrowly missed out on winning the Australian title last year, surprised friend and foe this year by winning 9 out of 10 matches in the Pro Lites class. He already won the title in the penultimate race and is now super motivated to make the switch to the MX2 World Championship next year.
In the European Championship, the young Cyril Genot will contest the European Championship 125cc. The 14-year-old Genot switched from the 85cc to the 125cc this year and has already shown some impressive results. This weekend, Genot will make his debut in the European 125cc European Championship in the Lierop GP.
Luke Styke: 'I am very happy with this good deal in the Kemea Team for next year. I can't wait to fly to Europe to meet the team and test the new YZF250. It will be a big challenge to move to Europe, but I am really looking forward to meeting new people and riding at a high level every weekend. My goal for next season is to finish in the top 5.”
Petar Petrov: 'I'm really happy to stay with the Kemea team for next year. It is a great advantage if you can prepare the new season in a familiar environment where you feel good. We are on the same wavelength in every area and I really learn a lot from the experience that Marnicq can pass on to me. I'm looking forward to riding the new Yamaha next year. I already tested a standard engine and I was impressed with the changes. With the extra help we will receive from Yamaha, I will undoubtedly have a top engine available. I want to prepare myself as best as possible this winter to find that little bit of extra speed for next year. '
Team manager Marnicq Bervoets: 'I'm really satisfied with the drivers for next year. We have known Petar for a year now and I am convinced that there is still room for improvement. I expect him to be between fourth and eighth next year. If he can improve his starts and perform consistently, this is certainly possible. Luke is a good asset to the team. I saw him ride in Lommel last year for the Motocross of the Nations and he already made a good impression there. He has a beautiful style and showed beautiful things in Australia this year. He is super motivated to come to Europe and I expect him to be at the same level as Petar for next year.
With Cyril Genot we have the best Belgian talent of the moment. Cyril has just turned 14 and has already impressed several times. He is super fast in the sand but still has a lot to learn on hard courses. He can grow within the team and gain the necessary experience. It will mainly be a learning year and that is why we have not set any concrete goals for next season. I am also very happy with the extra support we will receive from Yamaha Motor Europe next year. When we started the team in the GPs two years ago, the goal was to grow a little every year. Now that we will receive the trust and extra support from Yamaha Motor Netherlands next year, we will have the opportunity to become even more professional.
