Jeremy Delincé finally rewarded!
When you write for a website you have to remain somewhat neutral, but if we can have a soft spot for anyone, it is for Jeremy Delincé. A boy who works hard and disappeared from the world championship after an unlucky year. But Jeremy Delincé wouldn't be Jeremy Delincé if he didn't have to work hard to get back on track!
Our compatriot reaped the benefits of this this weekend. The RB Yamaha pilot was found in Switzerland, Swiss MX1 champion against top performers like Julian Bill, former MX3 world champion and a fixture in the world championship for many years, and against Valentin Guillod, the brand new European MX2 champion! The last heat that was to take place in Les Vieux-Prés was canceled due to heavy fog and so Delincé had to rely on his 3 points lead over Julien Bill and his 37 points over Valentin Guillod.
We thought this was enough to put him through his paces!
MXM: Can you say what this feels like?
Delince: The last race was canceled so it feels a bit strange to win the championship in this way. But after all the hours of work on the bikes and fitness, it's a great satisfying feeling to win this title!
MXM: You had a long and tough battle with riders like Bill and Guillod, internationally known pilots, do you hope this can now bring opportunities?
Delince: Of course, racing against Julian Bill and Valentin Guillod wasn't easy. We really had great matches together for a whole year. I hope that someone will notice that I can handle these guys and that this will give me opportunities in the future.
MXM: What's next on the agenda?
Delince: Now I have one more race, the ADAC in Holzgerlingen this weekend, then I will take a short rest break. Then it's back to full focus on next year! For next year I will see what opportunities emerge and then we will decide as quickly as possible.
We also asked him whether he will venture into supercross like some of his Swiss opponents. Jeremy told us this:
Delince: Supercross is not in my schedule. We don't have good jobs to practice that. Hurting me in Supercross because I wasn't ready would be a bit stupid too.
MXM: You probably have a lot of people you want to thank, so this is your chance!
Delince: I would like to thank Doma Uitlaten for all the years of support, Serge Put from MX477 and X-Brand, Garage Gernier, AMC-Orp, FMWB and Adeps for the great help! In addition to these people, there is of course a special word of thanks for my girlfriend, my parents, friends and all the fans!
