Summary of the weekend
There were a lot of competitions this weekend. The second round of the ADAC MX Masters, in short, the German Motocross Championship, was held in Reutlingen. On an extremely swampy and muddy course we had a surprising winner in Sebastian Pourcel. The Frenchman, who has been competing for the Sarholz KTM team since his deal with JK Gebben Yamaha failed, finished second behind Max Nagl in the first heat and won the series ahead of teammate Dennis Ullrich in the second heat. After his victory in the first series, Max Nagl had a much poorer second series and only finished eighth, which gave him only fourth place in the final classification after Seb Pourcel (2-1), Dennis Ullrich (5-2) and Tim Gajser (3-4). Max Nagl now leads the championship with 88 points, Seb Pourcel follows close behind with 76 points.
There was also racing in Reutlingen for the ADAC MX Youngster Cup and Brent Van Doninck did excellently. Our compatriot finished second in the daily rankings with two second places, just behind Lars Reuther. With this result, Van Doninck totals one point more than Reuther and that immediately makes him leader in the ADAC MX Youngster Cup.
From Germany we go to England where we saw Jonathan Barragan win again in the “Milton MX Park” ahead of Kristian Whatley and Shane Carless. The Spaniard claimed the overall victory of the fourth round of the “Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship” with a third and two second places. The series victories went to Tanel Leok, who easily won the first two heats, but dropped out in the third heat, losing all chances of an overall victory, and to Nicolas Aubin, who finished second in the first heat and won the third heat. but the Frenchman had squandered a good overall result by scoring only two points in the second series. Steve Ramon has clearly not yet found his niche in the British competitions, the West Flemish rider finished fifth, sixteenth and fifteenth. In the MX2 class it was Elliot Banks-Browne who took the lead.
In our own country we had the “Belgian National” in Dürler and also a Belgian Quad Championship. In the quads we saw Davy De Cuyper win both heats ahead of Sunny Desintebin, both were logically first and second in the total result ahead of Joeri De Cremer (3-8).
At the Inters Open it was Marvin Van Daele who won both rounds and thus took the overall victory ahead of Kevin Fors (4-2) and Nick Triest (3-3). Damon Graulus (2-4) finished with the same number of points as Kevin Fors and Nick Triest fourth.
