These were the X Games in Barcelona
After Foz in Brazil, this time it was Barcelona's turn. For the first time in history, the X Games were guests in Europe. Barcelona was the ideal location for three days of extreme sports. Just like in LA, all sports were covered and the very best took part in the event. Some matches were even broadcast live in the states. Just like in the states, off-road also plays a large part in the programming. Below we give you an overview of what happened in Barcelona.
Home rider Edgar Torronteras set the crowd on fire for the 'best whip' contest. Even the live voting in the states was not enough to keep Torronteras from his first gold X-games medal. Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg came second and Tom Pages third. Judge for yourself who threw the best whips.
In the Step up competition it was Ronnie Renner who won the gold medal. He defeated the surprising Josh Hansen in the final, who apparently turned his attention to these things after leaving the SX series.
Speed and Style we saw a final between Matt Rebaud and Mike Mason. Mason defeated the Swiss and won this final. In the third place match, Nate Adams narrowly defeated Andre Villa.
In the enduro race, the women's victory went to crowd favorite Laia Sanz. She fell at the start but was shouted forward by the crowd. For the men we saw an exciting match between Mike Brown and Taddy Blasuziak. However, the Pole crashed on the final lap and had to leave the victory to Mike Brown, who led from start to finish.
