VAMO Racing Suzuki about the 1st BMMX round
The 2013 season started today in all Ernst for VAMO Racing Suzuki riders Peter IRT and Jesper Jönsson. In Bergen they kicked off their Belgian campaign with the first round of the Belgian Masters of Moto managed to write his name. And VAMO Racing Suzuki's Slovenian rider, Peter Irt, also immediately proved with a fourth place that he will play a leading role in this championship. For VAMO Racing Suzuki support rider Wietse Brackman, the opening round of the BMMX MX2 turned out to be a drama. The Aalst native would not be able to score a single point in Bergen.
Qualification
The short training and qualification of 15 minutes proved to be beneficial Peter Irt as for Jesper Jonsson to be a culture shock. Both European Championship riders had difficulty with the typical Belgian system and the slower Nationals, which made it difficult to set a fast time. However, that did not apply Wietse Brackman who made a strong impression on Sunday morning by setting the fifth training time. Jesper ultimately finished seventh while Peter had to make do with thirteenth place.
1e some:
Support rider Wietse Brackman was one of the riders who had his eye on the brand new holeshot award. In the end he would be ranked 3e enter the first bend. A crash later in the race would jeopardize his chances. It would be a good round for Slovenian Peter Irt, who competed in a Belgian competition for the first time on Easter Monday in Axel. Irt started around 10e place, but once he got a good rhythm, he was able to move up to third place. Not bad for a debut in BMMX MX2.
Meanwhile, Jesper Jönsson had to start from 15e come back place. The rise to the top 10 was relatively easy, but once in 8e When we arrived, it stopped. A strong André Park kept Jönsson from the 7the place. Afterwards, the Swede told the team that overtaking had been very difficult on the narrow circuit.
2e some:
The second heat also did not start well for Jönsson. A collision with another rider meant a bad start for the Swede. Yet he did not hang his head after this. Already in the first round he stormed through the pack to take 3rd placee pass the brand new BMB jury car. In the second round, Jönsson defeated the surprisingly strong Kevin van Geldorp and then set his sights on leader André Park. Once Jönsson had passed the Estonian, he continued his rhythm to build a big lead. When the checkered flag fell, Jönsson had a whopping 33 second lead over Park. This meant that Jönsson not only took the heat win but also the general classification.
The second round also started with a problem for Peter Irt when he chose title favorite Damon Graulus for the same track at the same time. Nevertheless, the young Slovenian was able to improve from a 15e to an 8e fight back instead. The second heat would also turn out to be a disappointment for Wietse. The Aalst native crashed twice before heading to the paddock.
The Vamo Racing Suzuki team left Mons in high spirits with Jesper Jönsson leading the MX2 class of the Belgian Masters and Peter Irt in fourth place. Although Jesper's victory was well deserved it was also a bit of a surprise as nobody had predicted him as a front runner in this year's BMMX MX2 Class. In fact Jesper was cleared to race in Belgium by Swedish federation SVEMO mere days before the start of the championship.
The Vamo Racing Suzuki team left Mons in an excellent mood. How could it be otherwise when you count the first leader of the BMMX MX in your ranks? Jesper's victory may have been well deserved, but it came unexpectedly. In advance, no one had put the Swede forward as a title candidate. Moreover, Jesper only received the green light to participate from the Swedish Motorsport Federation a few days before the first round of the BMMX. The next round of the Belgian Masters of Moto
