MX2: Jordi Tixier trumps Glenn Coldenhoff
Jordi Tixier's steady progress was confirmed again today. The holeshot went to the sympathetic Standing Construct KTM leader Glenn Coldenhoff. Although Glenn also led almost the entire heat, he still had to give his thumbs up to brand mate Tixier. Dean Ferris resisted the pressure from Jeffrey Herlings who had a particularly bad start and, as usual, arrived at the start very 'fashionably late' to prepare his place. A good catch-up race for 'The Bullit' and the differences at the front were spectacularly small anyway. Christophe Charlier was also on a roll and finished fifth, less than 3,5 seconds behind winner Tixier.
In terms of driving, there was little today to justify the hype surrounding the American Jimmy Decotis, replacement for Arnaud Tonus. The New Englander is probably not the outdoor specialist par excellence in any case, but it is of course nice to have an AMA'er there! The 16-year-old Slovenian Tim Gajser (Marchetti KTM) was certainly strong. You can expect something from a multiple European champion in the youth series, which was again evident today. Gajser finished 7th, leaving many big names behind him. For Jake Nicholls, one of the candidates for the final podium, the series of bad luck is not over yet. The JM Racing rider crashed at the start - which caused Herlings to be held up - but recovered well to 14th place.
