Kemea Reytec van de Laar race report
Last weekend, a radiant spring sun provided the first really pleasant motocross day we have had in Belgium this year. A pleasant temperature and a large audience made this first stage of the Belgian championship a beautiful day on the sandy circuit in Mons. The Kemea Reytec van de Laar Yamaha team was represented on 'le circuit du bois brûlée' with Ludovic Brevers and Andre Park.
Ludovic competed in Bergen with his 125cc and had a disadvantage at the start compared to the four-stroke. In the first moto Ludovic got off to a pretty good start and crossed the line in 1th place after 15 lap. André got off to a very good start and was in fourth place after 1 lap. Both Kemea riders immediately found a good rhythm. Park moved up to third place in the second lap and was followed at the finish by Ludovic, who had a fantastic lap and made up no less than 11 places in 1 lap. Andre crashed halfway through the race and lost a few places. He had to look for the right rhythm again and crossed the line in fifth place. Ludovic could no longer threaten the leaders at the front and crossed the finish line in 3rd place.
In the second moto Andre took another rocket start. He came through the first corners in the top 5 and immediately moved into the lead. The top favorites, including Ludovic Brevers, all crashed in the first round and had to return from the back. At the front, Park set the pace for three laps but then had to let the Swede Jonsson in front. He chose not to take any risks, rode his own pace and crossed the finish line in second place. Brevers resumed the race in 30th position and started another nice recovery. He eventually crossed the finish line in ninth place.
In the final standings of the Monster Energy MX2 Trophy, André finished third after the Swede Jesper Jonsson and Damon Graulus. Ludovic ultimately finished fifth in the final standings.
André Park : ' I didn't expect to finish on the podium at all, but I'm very happy with this! I had not ridden much in recent weeks due to a minor injury and therefore had no great expectations. However, the riding went very well and my starts were also good. I struggled for a while after my fall in the first moto, but in the end it turned out fine and I can leave here with a good feeling.'
Ludovic Brevers: 'My speed today was very good and I gain a lot of confidence from that. The 125cc was certainly not inferior to the four-strokes in the competition. My starts weren't that good, but I was able to bounce back nicely in the first heat. In the second moto I crashed on the first lap and had to start from the back. This gives confidence for the first match of the European Championship in Italy next week. The riding has been going quite well all season and I am going to Italy with podium ambitions. I have been secretly dreaming of the red plate, but that will certainly not be easy. I'm going to do everything I can to finish as close as possible.'
Cyril Enjoyment rode the first test for the 85cc European Championship in Heerde, Netherlands. Cyril had a bad start in both heats, but still managed to finish fourth in the final standings with a fourth and sixth place. Freek van der Vlist won the first test for the ONK 125cc in Heerde. Freek won both heats but was given a time penalty in the first heat (too much noise) and relegated to second place.
Next weekend the fourth GP of the season will be held in Arco di Trento, Italy. In addition to Petar Petrov in the MX2 class, Ludovic and Freek van der Vlist will contest their first race for the European Championship 125cc.
