Herlings supreme in Arco
Jeffrey Herlings is not one class but two classes stronger than the rest. Despite two bad starts, Herlings managed to win both heats with ease. Herlings even crashed into the starting gate in the second moto, but managed to move into the lead in no time. Herlings precedes Tixier and Butron in the final standings.
In the first heat it was Tixier who took the lead, just like in Valkenswaard, and tried to run away with Charlier and Butron in his wake. Herlings started outside the top 20 but reached 1th place after 8 lap. He quickly climbed to fourth place and then took it easy for a while. On the 14th lap he came in second place and a little later Tixier was also there for the effort. Herlings won easily before Tixier and Charlier. Coldenhoff finished 5th after a bad start and Julien Lieber finished 23rd after making contact with the local ground several times.
In the second moto Herlings was aiming for a super holeshot, but he accelerated a little too early and crashed into the starting gate. He started very last, but after 1 lap 'the bullet' crossed the line in seventh place. Herlings literally flew around the track and on the seventh lap he took over the lead from holeshot Jose Butron. Herlings then rode on cruise control to his 20th GP victory, winning ahead of Butron and Dean Ferris, who crashed at the start in the first moto. Tixier came fourth, followed by Charlier and Coldenhoff.
Herlings remains undefeated and wins the GP ahead of Tixier and Butron. Charlier comes fourth followed by Glenn Coldenhoff and Dylan Ferrandis. Herlings is also at the top of the World Cup standings with the maximum number of points. Tixier is now in second place with 59 points. Coldenhoff is now third, 72 points behind the leader.
