Pauls Jonass wins European Championship 125cc in Italy
The Estonian Pauls Jonass has won the opening race of the European 125cc Championship with a double series victory. The pilot from the Wilvo Negaan JM Racing Team won ahead of the Swede Anton Lundgren and the Dutchman Calvin Vlaanderen.
The match went less well for our compatriots. Thomas Vermijl was our best representative in Arco di Trento with a 23rd place twice in the heats. Nathan Renkens finished 32nd and 30th in the heats. Ludovic Brevers only finished 38th in the first series.
From our northern neighbors it was Frederik Van Der Vlist of the Kemea Reytec Van de Laar Yamaha Team who just missed the podium with a 5th and 3rd place in the series. Dutch talent Davy Pootjes had a hard fall in the first series and injured his shoulder. Pootjes wanted to start in the second series, but the doctor at the circuit banned him from starting.
