French Championship in Lacapelle Marival
This weekend not only the first round of the Belgian Masters of Motocross was contested in Mons, there was also a blast in France, namely in Lacapelle Marival! This race was the second round of the French championship. This match was finally visited by Clément Desalle, because in the run-up to the match he chose Lacapelle Marival over Mons due to a dispute with one of the members of the organizing club in Mons.
Lacapelle Marival has had to reorient itself due to the early start of the World Cup season. The race has changed from a major opening race on the international calendar into a round for the prestigious French Elite Championship and managed to put together a more than decent starting field with, among others, Clément Desalle, Greg Aranda, Valentin Guillod, Valentin Teillet and the other Frenchmen.
Yet despite the stiff opposition, there was nothing that could be done about vice world champion Clément Desalle. After a good start, the Rockstar Suzuki pilot easily won the MX1 Series ahead of Sebastian Pourcel (Sarholz KTM), Milko Potisek and Valentin Guillod. Cedric Soubeyras had a very bad moto and only finished eleventh.
In the MX2 series we saw the returning Valentin Teillet win easily. Fortunately, for second place it was a little more exciting between Benoît Paturel and Dylan Ferrandis. For a long time it seemed that Benoît Paturel on his Husqvarna would win the duel for second place, but the Frenchman made a mistake in one of the last laps and Dylan Ferrandis was still able to move up to second place, Benoît Paturel finished third.
The Super Final, where the MX2 and MX1 had to compete together, once again had Clément Desalle as the winner. The young man from Hainaut dominated the race from start to finish and again outpaced well-driving Sebastian Pourcel and Milko Potisek. Dylan Ferrandis was the first MX2 pilot to finish in fifth place and that result, together with Valentin Teillet's inferior tenth place, meant that Dylan Ferrandis took the overall victory in the MX2 in Lacapelle Marival.
