Kemea Reytec van de Laar race report ONK Halle
Today the first test for the Open Dutch Championship was held in Halle. The sandy circuit is the ideal preparation for the riders for the Valkenswaard GP, which will take place during the Easter weekend.
In addition to Kevin Fors and Petar Petrov, all other riders of the Kemea Reytec van de Laar Yamaha team were at the starting gates in Halle today. The MX2 class became a real miniGP with the almost complete top 10 of the World Championship standings on the list of participants.
Petar didn't have the best day in Halle today. In both heats Petar had a bad start and had to return from very far away. In the first moto he came back from 33rd place to 14th place. In the second heat he crossed the finish line in 1th place after 28 lap. Petrov gave chase again and arrived 11th, good for 11th place in the final standings.
Kevin started the first moto in 31st place. He immediately went on the attack to remount as many riders as possible and was in 24th place when a rider in front of him crashed on the second lap. He could no longer avoid the motorcycle and crashed hard. The engine was damaged and Kevin had to abandon the fight. In the second moto Kevin got off to a good start and finished 1th after 10 lap. He rode a strong race and finished 8th, good for 13th place in the final standings.
As a European MX2 rider, André Park had to compete against many GP riders today. He tried to gain as much competition rhythm as possible and finished 29th and 31st in the heats.
The 125cc class was dominated today by the Kemea Reytec van de Laar Yamaha riders. Freek van der Vlist managed to win both heats and thus becomes the leader in the championship with the maximum points. Moreover, he was followed in both heats by teammate Ludovic Brevers, meaning that both the first and second places on the podium were occupied by the Kemea riders.
It wasn't just the 125cc engines tuned by Van de Laar that ran like a sewing machine in Halle today. Cyril Genot is also becoming more and more accustomed to the Yamaha in the 85cc category. Cyril finished fifth and third in the heats and finished third on the final podium. This ensured that all 2-stroke machines were on the podium today.
