Herlings tops KTM MX2 podium!
That Jeffrey Herlings is 2 classes stronger than the rest this year was once again proven today in Si Racha. The KTM rider won the MX2 round with speaking ease, ahead of another strong Romain Febvre and Max Anstie. Glenn Coldenhoff finished in seventh place in the first heat after an exciting duel and Julien Lieber finished twelfth. Kevin Fors struggled to 18th place.
In the super final we again saw a very strong Herlings. He quickly settled into the top 5 and even started to close the gap with riders like Goncalves, Paulin and Desalle. Towards the end, however, Herlings was completely exhausted and decided to secure fourth place. Romain Febvre was again the strongest behind Herlings and finished as the second MX2 rider in 11th place. Christophe Charlier finished third and Lupino fourth MX2 rider. Yet it was Butron who finished fourth and fifth on the podium.
Julien Lieber finished seventh in the second series and is in 10th place in the final standings. Despite his 18th place in the first heat, Kevin Fors had to earn his place in the super final in the repechage. But due to the great heat and the short rest period, it was not easy to start the super final immediately. Kevin finished 37th in the series but still collected a point.
In the standings for the World Championship, Herlings already leads after 2 GPs with 18 points over Febvre and 31 over Dean Ferris. So it will be very difficult to stop Herlings. The young Dutchman himself already dreams of a super final in Valkenswaard or Lierop, where he would certainly reach the podium.
