Preview Belgian National Genk
Kristof Santermans and his men have optimally prepared the circuit during the incredibly warm early spring days, and have immediately provided sufficient drainage, just in case! You never know in Belgium. The riders' park was also expanded slightly, so that even early spectators will be able to park close to the circuit. In Genk, all categories will be covered, but most eyes will of course be focused on the Quads, Inters and Sidecars classes, in which all well-known names will try to win the Horensbergdam classic.
Jan Vlaeymans, Davy Decuyper and Auke Theuninck will start in the Quads, the Belgian team that finished third in the Quadscross of Nations at the end of October. Local man Peter Steegmans and of course our youthful northern neighbor Mike Van Grinsven (reigning Belgian champion!) complete the list of five top favorites. The Inters are mainly looking forward to established internationals such as Manuel Priem, Nick Triest, Marvin Vandaele, Jeremy Delince, J. Cambré, or the Dutchman Mark Boot. Sufficient resistance can be expected from D. Graulus, K. Salaets, T. Debelder M. Govaert and D. Damiaans, among others, in the battle for the podium places.
Reigning world champion and ten(!) times world champion Daniel Willemsen will be exploring the circuit with his new assistant Robbie Bax, in preparation for the Belgian Grand Prix that will be held in Genk at the end of June. Vice world champion Etienne Bax will do the same. And with our compatriot Ben Adriaenssen (now with Ben Van den Bogaart at his side) added, we will immediately get the top three from the World Cup on Sunday. 2012 behind the starting gate. And to make the party complete, reigning Belgian champion Jan Hendrickx will of course do everything he can to lay the foundation for a third consecutive Belgian title in Genk. However, there are even more candidates for a top position on the Horensbergdam: What about the new combination Jason Vandaele – Tim Smeuninx? Or the return of the Latvian Daiders brothers? Or, why not, the seasoned British Millard brothers?
After the youth categories, the first highlight of the day follows with the Inters at 13 p.m., the Sidecars at 13.30 p.m. and the Quads at 14 p.m. We see these three top classes at work a second time, respectively. 16.40 pm the Inters, 17.10 pm the Sidecars, after which the Quads end the day at 17.40 pm. The honoring ceremony will then follow from 18.30:14 PM. The entrance fee in Genk is €14. Anyone under the age of 1,50 does not have to pay, and - not unimportant - all drinks are very reasonably priced, namely € XNUMX.
