BK Enduro: rough start to the season in Warnant
The first race of the 2013 Belgian Enduro Championship was won in Dantesque circumstances by reigning champion Cédric Cremer. The KTM Belgium rider preceded Jerôme Martiny and Jean-François Goblet.
No fewer than 350 participants had registered for the traditional start of the season UK Enduro in Warnant. Among them are many new names that nevertheless sound familiar. Warnant always had the reputation of being a technically difficult enduro and this year that was reinforced by the unsavory weather conditions. The brave ones who took the start had to brave cold and snow on the 40 km long route.

The weather conditions were anything but ideal for both of them Cedric'and - Cremer en melotte – cannot be harmed. In the first two laps of the day, these two tenors entered into a battle for seconds. They set the bar so high that their closest attackers, Gas Gas-riders Jerome Martiny en Jean-François Goblet, were driven in one minute. The second part of the day should have been decisive in the battle for the overall victory. But it never came to a real duel. In the third round, Cédric Melotte had to throw in the towel due to electronic problems Yamaha WR450F. The disappointment was great in the camp of the Namur man and his team boss Philippe Blondiau. At the same time, there was relief under the KTM tent because Cremer was able to ride unthreatened to his first victory of the season.
Jeff Goblet did not perform as well as expected in his first match at the Gas Gas. But Melotte's withdrawal gave him second place. At least that's what it seemed like. In the 8e and last special of the day, however, blocked the block of Goblet's Gas Gas. The motorcycle refuses to work at all and the former Belgian champion has to push across the finish line. Jerôme Martiny was able to take full advantage of Goblet's setback to take second place. Martiny simultaneously takes the class victory at the Inters E1. The class victory in the toughest Inter class went to Michael Vukcevic.
Just to say that ex-GP cross rider Bengt Laeremans was the fastest at the Nationals. Reigning Belgian Superbike champion Grégory Fastré also made his enduro debut in the same class.
