EKSX final in Milan
The final round of the European Supercross Championships was held in conjunction with the major EICMA motorcycle fair in Milan. In the SX2 class, the champion was already known: Valentin Teillet. The SX1 class was a different matter, as big favorite Cedric Soubeyras still had to collect a few points to secure the title.
After a poor start, Cedric Soubeyras immediately proves that he is the best on the field. The 2011 and also 2012 European supercross champion advanced from last place to first, once again proving his qualities on a supercross course.
In the second final we saw Cedric Soubeyras – who will also contest several AMA Supercrosses in 2013 – immediately take the lead ahead of Fabien Izoird. But unfortunately for Izoird, nothing could be done against the very strong Soubeyras who performed at a high level. Christophe Martin finished third despite a hand injury.
In the SX2 class, reigning champion Valentin Teillet no longer competed in Milan. As a result, we saw an easy victory for home driver Samuele Bernardini. The driver who will compete for the Ricci Factory TM team from next year was Romain Berthome and Mike Valade in advance.
In the SX125 we saw the victory go to Jimmy Clochet, but perhaps the best performance came from the super talented Brian Hsu. The young German with Taiwanese roots made his European debut in Milan on a 125cc and immediately showed what he could do. The youngster, who is also under contract with Suzuki Europe, finished a strong second ahead of Alexis Verhaeghe. Third place was enough for the latter to grab the European title.
