Diga Racing withdraws from the MX2 World Championship
The Diga Racing Team from Kempische Balen (Belgium) has decided, with a view to 2013, not to renew the permit that must be paid to Youthstream in order to participate in the World Championship and is withdrawing from the MX2 World Championship.
Team manager Dirk Saelen explains his decision.
With a view to the future, the new developments that are coming and for budgetary reasons, we have decided to withdraw the team from the MX2 World Championship after two seasons.
We wanted to work with young talents in a future-oriented way and with the current evolution of the Championship, with more Overseas competitions in 2013 and 2014, it is not financially possible for Diga Racing to follow this trend in the World Cup.
The current economic situation is not rosy and it is difficult, almost impossible for Diga Racing to attract new sponsors. It is not easy to get companies interested in a national championship or a championship that takes place on European soil. Finding partners for a championship that is largely contested across the ocean is completely impossible or even impossible for our team structure. After all, the majority of companies in our region do not care that their products are promoted in distant countries where the potential for customers is almost nil. It is with regret that we have to leave our starting places to another team. My heart says “stay”, but the common sense in me as a business leader forces me to end in beauty. I would also like to thank everyone who helped with the development of DIGA RACING. We are therefore very pleased that our current partners follow our philosophy and will continue to support the Diga Racing Team in our new projects for the future. Only time will tell what that future will bring.
