Petar Petrov joins KEMEA Reytec Yamaha
After a successful debut year in the MX2 World Championship, it remains Rebuke Reytec Yamaha team is not left behind. For 2013 the main goal is again the MX2 World Championship. By the age rule it means that Kenny Vandueren can no longer compete in the MX2 class and has to switch to the MX1 class. We would like to thank Kenny for the great season this year and wish him good luck next year in the MX1 class.
This weekend the team reached an agreement with young promise Petar Petrov for three seasons. The Bulgarian, who is only 18 years old, has shown several times in recent seasons that he has a good dose of speed and is extremely motivated to reconfirm his place at the front on the Yamaha next season. Yamaha also once again has confidence in the Kemea Reytec team and will continue to provide the team with technical support for the next three years.
Petar Petrov: “I am very happy that I can participate again in the MX2 World Championship on the Yamaha next year. This season I couldn't show my capabilities due to an early injury, but I would like to thank Marnicq and the team for their confidence. It feels a bit like I'm coming back home. I always rode a Yamaha when I was younger and I really love the bike. The atmosphere in the team is great and I'm looking forward to giving it my all in 2013. I can start riding again within a month and I'm eager to get the engine going. My goal next year is top 10, but I still hope to get close to the top 5 every now and then.”
Team manager Marnicq Bervoets: “Petar is a great asset to the team. He is a motivated pilot who also works very hard. He seems to have been participating in the World Cup for a while, but is only 18. So he still has a large margin for growth and, with the right guidance, I am convinced that he can show great things next year. The intention is to ride in the MX2 for another year and then switch to the MX1 class.”
Team owner Hans Corvers: “After a successful debut year in the World Cup, this is another big step forward. Our goal this year was to score points regularly, which we succeeded in doing better than expected. With Petar we now have a driver in-house who rides in the top 10, and who knows, he may also regularly be among the top 5. Together with Yamaha, who will provide us with additional support in the coming years, I am convinced that we as a team can grow further together with Petar.”
The full line-up of the Kemea Reytec team will be announced soon. The team is currently in the process of retaining Kevin Fors as the second driver next to Petrov.
