Antonio Cairoli takes Lierop pole
Cairoli was the fastest during pre-qualifying and also proved unapproachable during the race. Max Nagl demonstrated his legendary starting qualities but had to bow his head to his teammate Cairoli quite early on. The five-time world champion was in the lead from start to finish. Nagl came second ahead of De Dycker, Paulin and Simpson.
A second from Ken De Dycker during prequalifying showed the best for the weekend. However, unlike home driver De Reuver, Ken had a poorer start. From 9th place, Keeno managed to work his way up to third place. Desalle had a good start, but was unable to keep up with the high pace at the front. It was clear that the MXPanda was still hampered by his painful condition. An injury he sustained in Matterly Basin. Kevin Strijbos did not have the best start, but he did finish in sixth place. A motivated Shaun Simpson left a good impression and proved that he can more than hold his own in the sand. Simpson finished fifth. For the World Honda men, qualifying was a waste of time. Goncalves had to deal with technical problems (broken piston) and had to retire 7 laps from the end. Bobryshev was busy catching up when he crashed. Ultimately he finished 15th.
