Keiheuvel does not bring Kemea Reytec Yamaha any luck
The traditional Belgian Championship test on August 15 at the Keiheuvel in Balen is a real classic. When the sun is also present, spectators flock to the beautiful but tough sand circuit every year in large numbers. The Kemea Reytec Yamaha team already started the day battered. Last week Kevin Fors had a serious fall during training. He suffered a small fracture in the sternum and also had pain in the legs. Kevin's sternum didn't bother him much and his legs also seemed to be doing better, so Kevin decided to bite the bullet and participate in Balen.
However, during the first moto Fors felt a pain in his leg, after which he decided to stop immediately. Today it became clear during a scan that Kevin was driving around with a broken fibula and will therefore miss the GP of England. Provided he recovers well, Kevin might be ready in time for the Belgian Championship competition in Orp le Grand. Things didn't end well for Nathan Renkens last Sunday either. The young Renkens had a serious fall and broke both wrists. He was immediately taken to hospital and operated on as quickly as possible. Nathan would be out for about two months, which likely means the end of his season.
The honor therefore fell to Kenny Vandueren and Ludovic Brevers to defend the Kemea Reytec Yamaha colours. In the first moto Kenny finished 7th after a bad start. After 1 lap, the Limburger crossed the finish line in 20th place, but he gradually moved up to seventh place. Ludovic Brevers started 18th and fought his way to the front to eventually cross the finish line as eleventh and first national rider. In the second moto Kenny had a better start. He was quickly able to settle into fifth place and maintained this position until the finish. Ludovic finished 17th in this round but was overall victorious in the national MX2 class.
Vandueren finished sixth in the final standings and is now fourth in the Monster Energy Trophy standings. He is now 12 points off third place. Due to his injury, Kevin Fors now drops to fifth place, 13 points behind his teammate Vandueren. In the nationals, Ludovic is still in second place, 96 points behind the leader. The Kemea Reytec Yamaha team will participate in the British GP in Matterley Basin this weekend with Kenny Vandueren and Ludovic Brevers.
