Joël Brixhe rescued by the emergency services!
Last Sunday, Joël Brixhe narrowly escaped a fatal outcome. The 21-year-old pilot from Malmedy, who mainly drives AMPL, experienced some difficult moments in Recht.
We will let him speak: “I will try to answer your questions about what happened this weekend. I missed the start for a table mountain, but I didn't fall. However, the steering wheel hit my chest hard. After landing, I continued to drive for a few meters, but suddenly fell unconscious. I crashed at the edge of the track. I may have gone into cardiac arrest then. My family who came to me panicked. They thought I had died. A team of care providers then started with the first care and they gave me ventilation for about 30 minutes. I got oxygen in the blood and started breathing on my own. My heart also started beating again, albeit very slowly. When it was judged that my condition was stable, I was transferred to the hospital in Sankt-Vith. There I slowly but surely regained consciousness. The diagnosis is that my sternum is broken and that I have bruises on the neck, back and shoulder. All I have to do is rest, because I'm still vomiting blood. I would like to thank all the people for what they did for me on the circuit.”
Brixhe also had a serious fall in Lummen in March, resulting in a broken hand. We wish him a speedy recovery. Although it is actually a small miracle that he can tell us about his adventures on Tuesday.
