British GP: podium talk MX2
Tommy Searle fully lived up to its status as home favorite Matterley Basin. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasakirider completely dominated both heats. Jeffrey herlings tried to beat the Briton on home turf but failed. Also for Zach Osborne the British GP was kind of his home GP. The American is riding in the GP organizer's team Steve Dixon.
Winner: Tommy Searle –Monster Energy Kawasaki (1-1)
"The pressure to win always makes it even more difficult during a home match. But I didn't want to let anyone down. In both motos Jeffrey came very close but I knew I couldn't lose in front of the fans. The title will be very difficult, but a victory like today makes up for a lot. I sometimes heard his (Herlings) engine and saw from the fans that he was close by. But I just kept driving my own race. I didn't know he had crashed until halfway through the last lap of the second moto. But then the party could begin!"
Second: Jeffrey Herlings – Red Bull KTM (2-2)
"It's a shame I couldn't win here, but in the end I only had to give up six points to Tommy. The next two races are in Lierop and that is practically my backyard. I will be ready and I am sure I can win both heats there to further expand my lead of 51 points. Hopefully Jeremy (Van Horebeek) will end up between me and Tommy to deepen the gap with Tommy even further."
Third: Zach Osborne – Monster Energy Yamaha (3-4)
"It was a great weekend for me. I immediately felt at home on this track. In the first moto I didn't have such a great start, but I was still able to get back within about five or six seconds of Jeffrey. I only have three GPs left, which makes it difficult to keep up with these guys at the front. Especially if they have already completed more than 25 GP rounds. I am satisfied with the result of this weekend. Now it is important to continue working on my fitness and reach a good level again."
