Kemea Reytec Race Report Sweden
Again points in Sweden for the Kemea Reytec Yamaha team
A week of rest after the Belgian GP separated the first and second part of the 2012 World Championship. After the spectacular mud race last week in Kester, the pilots were once again presented with wet and difficult conditions on this beautiful circuit, which is characterized by the large rock flank on the side.
In the qualifying race, Kevin Fors got a good start and the young Waal was in the top 2 after 10 laps. In the duel for ninth place, the other rider crashed and took Fors with him. He fell back to 37th place and crossed the finish line in 29th place. Kenny Vandueren rode a regular race and crossed the finish line in 19th.
A few heavy rain showers above Uddevalla turned the circuit into a mud pit with many treacherous and slippery places. In the first heat Kenny got off to a rocket start and was within the top 10 after 2 laps. Kenny rode his own pace but started to drop back after a few heats due to a stubborn clutch. Kenny dropped further from the points and once the clutch had completely failed he decided to enter. Kevin, for his part, started 23rd and gradually built up his race. Lap after lap he climbed the rankings, at one point running in 14th place. As he made way for the first to arrive, some of his competitors took advantage of the space and Kevin eventually crossed the line in 17th, good for another 4 points.
In the second series Kevin crashed at the start and had to start again with a big gap to the first. He immediately started the competition without glasses, but still wanted to get the most out of it. The circuit was still very treacherous and it was difficult to pass. Kevin ultimately finished in 23rd place. Kenny started in 18th place and was in the running for points throughout the series. In the penultimate lap, the Limburger again suffered engine trouble and had to abandon the battle.
In the 125cc class we again had both young wolves at the start. After his good performance in Bastogne, Ludovic Brevers was also allowed to start in the lightest class in Sweden. A nice third place in the time training for Nathan Renkens and tenth place for Ludovic Brevers show that both riders are growing more and more as the season progresses and that they have good speed.
In the first heat, which was still ridden in dry conditions, Nathan got off to a good start, but quickly fell back a few places due to a mistake. After 1 lap, the Kemea riders crossed the line wheel in wheel in 16th and 17th position. Nathan felt very good on the Swedish surface and came back to 13th place. Ludovic did not find his way in this match and was stuck in 16th place.
In the second moto Ludovic had a good start in fifth place. He competed with the German Jacobi for fifth place, but ultimately had to acknowledge his superiority in the German. Ludovic eventually finished sixth, which gave him tenth place in the final standings. Nathan again made a solid start but crashed. He resumed the race in 34th position and immediately had to throw away his glasses. However, he did not give up and finished 23rd.
Kevin Fors : Again, there could have been more… Due to my poor starting position, I had a bad start twice. In the first series I came back nicely and the riding went great. However, when the leaders started chasing me, I moved out of the way, but some competitors slipped by that I had not seen. A top 2 would have been possible without this mistake. In the second moto I crashed at the start and had to throw away my glasses. I tried to come back but ended up in 15rd place. The feeling was good and I was convinced that I could do two good motos, but it didn't turn out that way, which left me quite disappointed.
Kenny Vandueren: Driving went very well this weekend, but this time I had to deal with technical problems twice. The first moto I had a great start and rode in the top 10. I was able to attack riders and felt very good. After a few laps the clutch started to slip and eventually dropped completely, after which I gave up. I was also well on my way to scoring points in the second series, but I dropped out in the penultimate round. Well, motocross is a technical sport and these things are just part of it. I especially remember the good feeling I had this weekend and will take it with me to the next GP in Latvia.
Nathan Renkens: I'm starting to feel better and better on the bike. We struggled a bit with the settings in the first training sessions, but in the timed training sessions I felt great and the bike rode very well, as evidenced by my third fastest time among the top riders. In the first series I was able to recover well to become 13th. During the second series I quickly lost my glasses and it was very difficult to return. I feel that I am going in the right direction, but now I want to ride 2 constant series first. In terms of speed, things are getting better and better and I now have to translate that into results.
Ludovic Brevers : The weekend actually didn't start well with a crash on the finish mountain. I fell hard and seriously hurt my fingers. During the first moto I had a lot of pain in my fingers and I couldn't find a good rhythm, so I couldn't move up as I should. Things went much better on Sunday and after my good start I quickly found the right pace. I had some problems with the goggles and had to slow down a bit, which otherwise might have allowed me to finish fourth. The injury to my finger actually ruined my weekend, I actually expected a little more from it. But I would like to thank the team and Peter VD Laar for making a Yamaha 125cc available for the past 2 GPs. This allowed me to further build up the rhythm and this will certainly help me in the European 250cc races. The bike felt great and I certainly enjoyed it.
