Second Dutch title for Herlings!
Jeffrey Herlings (17) has won the ONK MX2 for the second consecutive time. This was of course celebrated in an appropriate manner in Axel! If 'The Bullit' appears at the start in your own country, the end result is predictable, to say the least. With the prospect of the title, the Elsendorp resident flew to two series victories today in Axel. The KTM factory rider took the title with one race to go in Harfsen. Jeffrey Dewulf finished 6th. All results of the ONK in Axel here.
Herlings seemed like he was from another planet compared to the competition. During the qualifications, the second man, Pascal Rauchenecker, already lost almost 4,5 seconds. In the first moto he 'lapped' to the sixth rider, Brian Bogers. An ambitious Erik Eggens had to show the youth once again how it should be done. The multiple Dutch champion finished second ahead of Mike Kras and Glenn Coldenhoff. No Joël Roelants, nor Jeremy Van Horebeek in Axel and so Jeffrey Dewulf became the first Belgian in 7th, Kenny Van Dueren became 8th.
After the break, Herlings continued his momentum. This time, despite a defective gear lever, he held off the British Jake Nicholls and the Austrian Pascal Rauchenecker (by a large margin). Negaan-JM Racing rider Glenn Coldenhoff finished fourth for a second time. Mike Kras did not appear at the start due to technical problems. Eggens reached the final podium for the second time this season, but ultimately missed out on second place due to a stronger second series from Jake Nicholls.
