Successful BC for Standing Construct Suzuki Racing MX2!
Last Sunday the first match for the Belgian championship took place in Mons. After the cancellation of the previously planned match in Mons and the cancellation of Wichelen, everyone had to wait until now to see what the proportions were.
It was an extremely successful weekend for the Standing Construct Suzuki team with no more or less than a full Standing Construct Suzuki podium in the second round. In the first heat, Jens Getteman came out of the starting gate in around tenth place and managed to steadily work his way forward during the first half of the race.
Just after half the race, Jens took over the leading position from Kenny Van Dueren and built up a nice lead so that he crossed the finish line as the victor. After being plagued with annoying injuries for several months, it seems that Getteman is ending a bad period.
For Larsen, who is still dealing with the aftermath of the trips to Mexico and Brazil, the race went a little less smoothly, but the never-ending Dane managed to persevere and eventually finish sixth. For Damon Graulus, who was initially the first Standing rider to finish in fifth place, two crashes threw a spanner in the works, resulting in a disappointing seventeenth place.
The second heat gave a completely different course of the race. Graulus took the holeshot and built a lead of more than ten seconds over first pursuer Kevin Fors in just a few laps. Larsen, who crossed the finish line in eighth place on the first lap, settled into second place just after half the race and closed the lead over his teammate that had now grown to 17 seconds.
Going into the last lap, both Standing riders rode wheel to wheel and it was a matter of waiting until the last meters to see who would ultimately win the second heat.
Graulus turned out to still have some reserves and managed to achieve his very first BC heat victory ahead of friend and training partner Larsen. The winner of the first series, Jens Getteman, crashed at the beginning of the second heat and for a moment it seemed that it would be difficult for the Wellener to achieve a good end result. However, a reborn Getteman proved that he is close to his BC level of last year and remounted all the vehicles in front except for his two teammates.
In the end, the Standing drivers took the first three places, which is a wonderful achievement for the young team. The next race will be the French Grand Prix in St Jean d'Angely, where, in addition to both World Championship drivers Larsen and Getteman, Graulus will also compete internationally for the first time this season in the first test for the European championship.
