Fantic is building a dirt bike!
The name 'Fantic' may ring a bell for some of you. The Italian brand has been making a comeback for about five years after a difficult period. This first happened with two-stroke 50cc enduros and light four-strokes. Due to recent developments in the off-road market, Fantic is now once again going all out on the two-stroke card. While Fantic until recently concentrated mainly on Enduros, the 125cc Scuderia Cross is the first Fantic dirt bike in years.
According to the modern Fantic recipe, the power source was not developed entirely in-house. The Italian Athena was asked to develop the 'Gruppo termico'. So the cylinder head, cylinder and piston come from the Athena warehouse. The Athena/Fantic power source is fed with a 38 mm Keihin carburetor. The engine is housed in the same 'light weight frame' as the enduro models. At the front, the Scuderia Cross is suspended by a 48mm front fork from Marzocchi, the shock absorber comes from Öhlins. Furthermore, the Scuderia Cross is equipped with Nissin brakes, Braking brake discs and a steering wheel from Tommaselli.
If Fantic could now expand its network of importers, the 125cc Scuderia Cross could grow into a full-fledged opponent of KTM's SX 125.
