Suz MX interview: Tim Vandriessche
After some major inters, I thought it was time to put some talented pilots through their paces. This time it is the turn of a young rider who became Vic champion at the Beloften last year and is now doing well at the Junior MX2. Tim came to the Suzmobil on Sunday evening and that's where I found out the following.
Name: Tim Vandriessche (Timmeke for friends) – Age: 15 years – Residence: Menen – Team: Dirk Hofman
Suz MX: Tim, you and a few other teammates created quite a spectacle at the Beloften last year. Even more so in Dendergem you even achieved the best time of the day, after Seronval, Wybo, Priem and Torpie. That in itself is quite an achievement! I assume you were on motorcycles very early?
Timmeke: “I started with an LM motorcycle when I was six years old. In 2007 I became Belgian Champion Novices 85 cc in the VJMO. Last year I was Vice Champion of the UXNUMXs.”
Suz MX: So the transition from U21 to Junior was obvious?
Timmeke: “Yes, given the lap times that the promises made last year, that step was quickly taken. And no, I didn't really have to adapt. Until now I had been on the podium every week, except in Eeklo due to a fall. I also drive a lot calmer when I'm in the lead than when I'm in 2nd or 3rd place. Being in the lead gives me more peace in my race and then I can drive more concentrated, I also ride BK Beloften in the BMB.”
Suz MX: Do you do a lot of motorcycle training or more fitness training?
Timmeke: “I do a lot of fitness training. That's what it's all about, the better the condition, the better the performance and endurance. I am going to run twice for 2 hour, swim and do motorcycle training at least once a week.”
Suz MX: What is your goal for 2012?
Timmeke: “I would really like to become Belgian Junior MX 2 champion and, above all, have a lot of fun and suffer as few injuries as possible.”
Suz MX: which people are important to you and your performance?
Timmeke: “First and foremost mom and dad. Also Luc Kint the mechanic, Dirk and Annick Hofman because I get to drive in a really cool team. And Dirk Hofman is a team that supports all their pilots equally. I also cannot forget my sponsor Filip Lammertyn. Also thanks to Mark De Connick for always making sure I got my starting place right, and of course to all my friends and supporters!”
