Strong Butron just outside the top ten
Beautiful weather today in Sevlievo for the second GP of the season. Only one pilot at the start for Diga Racing, the Spaniard José Butron. Due to the injury sustained during yesterday's qualifying race, Priit Rätsep was forced to forfeit today's race. Contrary to what was feared yesterday, we can today confirm that Priit did not suffer a foot fracture, but did suffer a fracture to the phalanges of three toes. Tomorrow Priit will undergo surgery to straighten one toe.
Warm-up During the warm-up this morning, José Butron clocked the ninth chrono.
First series
José started 6th. After some pushing and pulling in the first corner, he fell back to 11th place. José had a good rhythm, but a crash with Tonkov threw a spanner in the works. José was able to continue the race but was forced to catch up from the last ranks. However, he kept going and in the same lap he was back to 26th place. The Diga rider did not give up and kept fighting to make his way to the front. Ultimately, after a nice battle with Nikolaj Larsen, he finished in thirteenth place behind Petrov and Tonkov.
Second series
During the first passage of the second series, José was in 9th place behind Ferrandis and ahead of Leib. In the second round he managed to move up to eighth place. José rode a strong race and about halfway through the race he took 6th place. It looked like he would finish sixth, but two laps before the end he had to pass the Italian Lupino. Ultimately, José achieved a beautiful 7th place after a strong performance. In the final standings José finished in a very creditable eleventh place. Tommy Searle won the GP MX 2 ahead of Jeffrey Herlings and Joël Roelants
