Preview Monster Energy MX2 Trophy Wichelen
On Tuesday, May 1, the MX2 riders will also start the BK Motocross. For the GP riders, the Monster Energy MX2 Trophy in Wichelen will be a major challenge, just two days after the Italian Grand Prix in Fermo!
Defending champion Kevin Fors has already shown that he is in good shape in recent weeks. The combative Kemea-Reytec-Yamaha rider even comes in a close second place in the MX2 World Championship. Fors was also the final winner last year during the Belgian Championship organization of MC Scheldeland. Anyone who says Fors automatically ends up with his biggest attacker Jens Getteman (Standing construct-Suzuki) in the Belgian Championship! Jens had to leave the victory in Beervelde to Fors last year due to a mistake in the final lap. It will not be due to his speed and talent, the 18-year-old Getteman, with a year more experience, has all the assets to ride for the Belgian title.
Also a permanent fixture in the Monster Energy MX2 class is the Dutchman Mark Boot. The sympathetic Zeelander became Belgian vice-champion in MX2011 in 2 and has been on the podium in Beervelde each time in the past two years. This makes Mark an underdog who should not be underestimated, especially in tough circumstances! As always, the list of podium candidates is very extensive. In addition to Getteman, Standing Construct is also fielding the fast Dane Nikolaj Larsen and Damon Graulus. The young Brent Vandoninck has also achieved some great results this year and the KTM rider would like to continue that upward trend.
Or what about Wietse Brackman, who finished fourth in Beervelde last year. In the 'experienced' category there is also a lot of quality with men such as Tom De Belder, Ronny Van Hove, Tom Van Loon and Dennis Dierckx. In short, as always, we can expect an open battle in the BK MX2 and that will only benefit the public!
