Butron and DIGA are in the spotlight!
Today the third GP of the season was held on the beautiful Fermo circuit in Italy. The weather conditions were very good although it was a bit oppressively hot today. The Belgian DIGA Racing Team managed to get into the spotlight thanks to a great performance by José-Antonio Butron in the MX2. The young Spaniard finished fifth in Italy!
During the warm-up this morning, José Butron achieved a 15th time ahead of Cervellin and behind Anstie. First series In the first series José started very well, in 4th place. After the first corner José was 7th and in the same lap he moved up to third place behind Van Horebeek and Herlings. During the third round there was a nice battle with Ferrandis and Nicholls. The drivers played leapfrog for a few laps for third and fourth place. A little later José fell back to 5th place ahead of Harri Kullas, Roelants and Larsen. About halfway through the series, José rode in 8th place behind Kullas and a little later Larsen also passed the Diga rider. José finished in a nice 9th place within the top 10.
Wonderful start in the second series for José Butron. The Spanish Diga rider took care of the Holeshot with Jeremy Van Horebeek and Michael Leib behind him. After the first lap José finished in fourth place behind Nicholls and ahead of Lupino. A lap later José was in third place with an oncoming Herlings in his wheel. José clearly had the right rhythm. About halfway through the race he lost a spot to Tixier and later he would also lose a fight with Lupino. However, he did not give up the fight and during the last laps José did everything he could to put Lupino under fire. Ultimately, after a wonderful series, he finished in seventh place! In the final standings we see José in fifth place behind Tixier (4th), Van Horebeek (3rd), Leib (2nd) and Jeffrey Herlings who became the GP winner. José is now in thirteenth place in the championship standings.
