YRRD kit for MotoGP rider Dovizioso
It is known that many road racers prepare for their season during the winter by riding motocross. This also includes brand new Yamaha MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso, who was a guest in Parma last week with Michele Rinaldi.
Dovizioso received a YRRD kit from Yamaha for his YZ250F training bike. For the uninitiated: YRRD stands for Yamaha Rinaldi Research and Development.
Like many other MotoGP riders, Dovizioso often trains on a dirt bike and so the Italian is naturally pleased with the extra power that the YRRD kit will bring to his YZ250F. “I expect a lot from the new cylinder head and camshaft for my YZ250F. Because you always want a little more power on a 250F.”
For Dovizioso, motocross is an essential part of his training. “I can't ride as much motocross as I would like, but when I'm home I still go motocross at least once a week,” said Dovizioso. “The majority of my physical training takes place in the gym, but motocross also helps. Riding a dirt bike is completely different from riding a street bike. But I notice the difference with MotoGP riders who don't race in terms of feeling. By racing you can feel better when the racing bike starts to slide and you can handle it better. But I love just about every aspect of motocross: getting the bike ready, loading it into the van and going racing with friends.”
Dovizioso is also known as a big fan of the Motocross World Championship. He once left after the TT from Assen straight to Teutschenthal, Germany, where the German Motorcross GP took place the next day.
