Preview ONK MX1 Oss
Two more nights of sleep and then the KNMV Open Dutch Championship MX1-MX2-125cc and 85cc starts in Oss. The Brabant motorcycle club is counting down to what can safely be called a mini-GP. In recent months and weeks, the volunteers of Motor Club Oss have worked hard to prepare the circuit. Now it's up to the riders!
Earlier we talked about the MX2, where the question of who wins has shifted more to how much of a lead does he win and how far will he double riders. The answer to who is obviously Jeffrey Herlings! In the MX2 the battle seems more open. Crowd favorite Marc De Reuver showed some very nice things last weekend in Hawkstone Park. The Kawasaki-Lanes pilot stayed in the wake of the very strong Clément Desalle for 10 minutes in the Superfinal and (hopefully) shook off his arm pump. However, Calimero is not the only British employed driver who comes to Oss. Kevin Strijbos (KTM UK) and Shaun Simpson (Dixon-Yamaha) will also be present. Two boys who can also handle themselves perfectly in the sand!
Ken De Dycker (LS Honda Racing) dominated the start of the ONK last year and now all eyes will be on Keeno. The tall Belgian has been hampered by a painful knee in recent weeks. A lot will therefore depend on the feeling with which De Dycker completes the training sessions in the morning. Factory Honda rider Rui Goncalves suffered a shoulder injury a few weeks ago. We will see Rui at the start again in Oss. This does not yet end the list of key players because Dutch MX1 champion Herjan Brakke (JK Gebben Yamaha) obviously wants to make the best possible use of his title defense! Achieving the best possible result is also what fast men such as Marcus Schiffer, Yentel Martens, Ceriel Klein Kromhoff, Stuwey Reynders, Kristof Salaets, Marvin Van Daele, Bas Verhoeven Jurgen Van Nooten, Kevin Wouts and Ivo Steinbergs want!
After 3 years of absence from the ONK, it will not just be a get-together but an absolute top meeting! The last time the ONK Solo came to Oss was on September 6, 2009 when Evgeny Bobryshev (MX2) and Patrick Roos (MX1) managed to win the day. Since then, various changes have been made to the circuit: the last 'loop' behind the party tent is gone, just like the part of the circuit behind the starting gate. On Sunday the riders fly from the 'hole' into the starting area with a big jump! Spectacle guaranteed. Moreover, it is also the first time ever that Oss has been at the forefront of the ONK. We can hardly wait!
