ONK sidecar: Another win for Team Bax!
Things are not going well for Team Bax at the moment. The sidecar cross formation from Bergeijk was again unapproachable on Sunday afternoon in Valkenswaard during the second race for the Dutch Open Championship. A week after the resounding victory in Lochem, driver Etienne Bax and his driver Kaspars Stupelis again claimed both heats. Both times the combination crossed the finish line with a significant lead. Team Bax now leads the ONK with the maximum score of 100 points.
“We got off the bike twice today without being tired,” said Bax (23). “If you are in the lead, you can drive nice lines and you can save your strength. It went great. All in all it was a great day. And that in front of our own audience.” The driver once again praised the collaboration with 29-year-old Let Stupelis, with whom he is driving for the first time this season. “We get along very well together. If it feels good on the bike, everything will work.”
That became abundantly clear on Sunday. Although Team Bax still had to tolerate Marcel Willemsen in front of them in both rounds at the start, the formation had no competition in the future. Bax: “This is very good for self-confidence. Especially because twelve of the best fifteen from last year's World Cup were at the start here today. In that respect it was a mini Grand Prix.” Team Bax will be back in action in two weeks. Then the third match for the ONK is scheduled in Varsseveld.
