LS Honda at full speed in Heerde!
After Jonathan Barragan had to miss the race in Valence due to a hand injury, LS Honda Racing will compete at full strength for the first time this weekend during the third ONK round in Heerde! Good news for the fans of the Belgian top team and for the spectators next Sunday.
Next to Ken Dycker en Jonathan Barragan Heerde can count on an impressive starting field Evgeny Bobryshev, Kevin Strijbos, Rui Gonçalves, Marc De Reuver, Gautier Paulin, Shaun Simpson, Marcus Schiffer and Dutch champion Herjan Brakke. In the Dutch MX1 title battle, De Dycker is currently in second place, 11 points behind leader Bobryshev. Barragan took his first victory over Honda last weekend, during the second round of the Spanish MX Elite Championship. The multiple Spanish champion is now second in the standings after Alvaro Lozano, the third race in the MX Elite will take place on March 25 in Talavera. Sunday will be a first introduction to the MSV NOV circuit for both Dycker and Barragan.
Especially due to the cancellation of the first BC race in Mons on April 1, the ONK race in Heerde is an important test in the sand. In just over three weeks, the Motocross World Championships will start in Valkenswaard, Netherlands. Ken Dycker: “I'm looking forward to riding in Heerde, to see where I am now. Especially because the first round in Halle had been difficult. We are still testing the suspension and in the first series I had a lot of problems with inflated arms. Things went better in the second race, I was able to drive towards Bobryshev but I was hindered by cars behind me. Although I did have the feeling that Bobby was slightly stronger in Halle. Fortunately, I was able to train fairly normally this week, and my injured knee hardly bothers me anymore. We also worked hard with Sölva to further refine the suspension. That is why I hope to take a step forward in Gelderland, at least in terms of feeling.”
Jonathan Barragan: “The ONK in Heerde will be a good test in view of the first GP, and for me it is also the first sand race of the season! Because I have always trained on hard tracks at home, it will take some adjustment. Fortunately, I was able to drive in the sand in Belgium last week. In Osuna last Sunday the first heat was very rough, the track was very hard and my arms were in a lot of pain. The second race was a revelation in comparison! It went so much better, I found my rhythm easily and I really enjoyed myself. It was cool to win for the first time on the CRF450R, especially because it was in front of the home crowd!”
