Jos Driessen new BMB chairman
Jos Driessen was confirmed as the new chairman on Wednesday evening by the board of directors of the Belgian Motorcyclists' Association. Driessen thus replaces Walloon Robert Gysembergh, who chaired the national motor sports federation from 2008.
The Belgian Motorcyclists' Union consists of two regional leagues: the Flemish VMBB and the Walloon FMWB. With a rotation of four years each, one of the two leagues provides the chairman of the national umbrella organization, the Belgian Motorcyclists' Association. Mr. Driessen was previously chairman of the Belgian Motorcyclists' Association from 2004 to 2008. Under his impetus, a step towards professionalization of Belgian motorsport was taken, including by attracting promoters for the national endurance and motocross championships. Driessen also guided the national motorsport federation through difficult times when a claim for damages from former motocross rider David Wijnants threatened the survival of the BMB. Mr. In daily life, Driessen runs a law firm in As, Limburg.
MXMag.be wishes Mr. Driessen good luck during his chairmanship.
