Elect-Râ BK Enduro: Melotte very strong in Warnant
The organizers of the Elect-Râ BK Enduro and the Belgian Motorcyclists' Association can be pleased with the arrival of the Gas Gas duo Cédric Melotte and Patrick Caps. Not only are both ex-motocross riders a more than decent asset to the Inters class of the Elect-Râ BK Enduro, thanks to them it will also be exciting at the front.
For the first time in a long time, Jean-François Goblet seems to be encountering heavy opposition in the Elect-Râ BK Enduro. The D'Ieteren Sport Yamaha rider had to watch with dismay in Warnant as Cédric Melotte set the fastest time in 7 of the 8 specials yesterday. After Goblet won the first special of the day, it turned out that there was no solution against Gas Gas Belgium driver Melotte.
No fewer than 32 Inters attended one of the most beautiful enduros of the Elect-Râ BK. Among them also a number of foreign drivers.
In E3, Cédric Melotte was undeniably the strongest. Melotte dominated all day with his Gas Gas EC300. The only one who could stay close to Melotte was Patrick Caps. Wim Vanderheyden completed the podium but almost had to give in to Melotte by 1 minute 20.
François Goblet once again proved to be the strongest in the Queen Class, the E2. However, Cédric Cremer closed the gap with the Belgian champion. The KTM Belgium rider finished 2e for Mickaël Vukcevic and Charles-Antoine Allegra. Roel Verpoorten became the first Flemish on a 5e place. Bob Van Looveren turned 7e.
At the Inters E1, victory went to former champion Jerôme Martiny. The AMPL rider is again on a Motosport Lejeune Husqvarna this year. Adrien Vandommele held off Neo-Inter Johan Peffer in the battle for second place.
Did Jean-François Goblet go all out in Warnant or save himself for the long trip to Chile where the Enduro World Championships start next weekend? The fact is that it was Cédric Melotte who stole the show during the classic in Warnant. Melotte's good result will undoubtedly give the Namur the necessary courage to take on the title battle with Goblet. And then there is that other Gas Gas pilot, Patrick Caps. Can he beat Goblet and Melotte or should he hope for problems for the duo leading the championship?
The fact is that it already seems to be an interesting season in the Elect-Râ BK Enduro. Goblet on a Japanese four-stroke against Melotte on a Spanish oversized quarter-liter two-stroke. The ex-trialist Goblet against the ex-pro cross racer Melotte. Who will come out on top? The rest of the season will tell.
