difficult weekend for Kemea-Reytec
The traditional international opening competition was held this weekend in Valence, France. Due to the cancellation of the race in Lommel last week, this was also the first appointment for the riders of the Kemea Reytec Yamaha racing team.
The team had already traveled south the previous week to prepare for the competition. Since only two classes start in Valence (MX1 + MX2), in addition to Kenny Vandueren and Kevin Fors, Ludovic Brevers and Nathan Renkens also competed in the MX2 class among the GP riders.
After some good times on Saturday, things took a turn Kenny Vandueren Sunday in the warm-up mass in the wave section. He lost control of the Yamaha and crashed. He hurt his heel but decided to participate in the races anyway. After a good start in the first heat, Vandueren finished in 13th place. In the second moto Kenny was in a lot of pain and could not get further than 20th place.
Also Kevin Fors showed during the weekend that the speed is there. However, he also had to deal with some mistakes that meant the results were not to his liking. Kevin had to retire in the first moto after a crash and finished 13th in the final moto.
Ludovic Brevers showed great things in training, but started the competitions with too many nerves, which caused him to drive very stiffly. Ludovic retired in the first moto after a crash and finished 22nd in the final moto.
Ordered before Nathan Renkens The intention this weekend was to gain as much rhythm as possible on the 125cc. Nathan therefore took part in the training and gained as much experience as possible. Since he has not yet reached the minimum age of 14, Nathan was not yet allowed to participate in the competitions.
Team Manager Marnicq Bervoets: “ This was a difficult weekend for the team. The pilots all showed that they are motivated, but the results do not reflect this. I notice that they have the speed, but the burden of errors is too great. The main focus now will be to maintain that speed throughout the entire match without making mistakes. This was only the first competition, we now know in which areas we need to work and now we can start building up!”
The Kemea Reytec Yamaha team will continue testing in France this week in preparation for the first round of the French Championship in Lacapelle Marival next Sunday.
