Hawkstone Park, Marival or Montevarchi?
Organizing a major international race is not easy these days! Certainly not at the beginning of the season. There are even three major competitions planned here and there in Europe this weekend. Mxmag lists them for you:
Hawkstone Park in England
– The 'oldest' race of the three and still a very prestigious race. Unfortunately, the days when all the top players came together are long gone. Will be at the start this weekend in Hawkstone Park: Clément Desalle, Gautier Paulin, Kevin Strijbos, Arnaud Tonus, Xavier Boog, Marc Dereuver, Jake Nicholls, Shaun Simpson, Elliott Banks Browne, Harri Kullas, Yentel Martens, Stephen Sword, Glenn Coldenhoff, Martin Barr and Petar Petrov. For Dereuver (Lanes-Kawasaki) and Strijbos (KTM UK), who are riding for British teams this year, it will be important to make a strong appearance in front of their new home crowd. Nicolas Aubin (leg extinguishment) and Tanel Leok (ankle) will remain sidelined this weekend.
CLS-Monster Energy party in Marival-Lacapelle
– Marival-Lacapelle (midi-Pyrenees) will be the second big appointment of the season, especially for the French riders. The Masters MX International mainly relies on the appeal of the Pourcel brothers and the CLS-Monster Energy-Pro Circuit-Kawasaki team. Both Christophe and Sébastien Pourcel and the MX2 team riders Joel Roelants and Tommy Searle start their season there. Other notable names are Ken Dycker, MX3 world champion, Julien Bill, Valentin Teillet, Livia Lancelot and Cédric Soubeyras. Verde smelled a large Belgian delegation Marvin Van Daele, Kevin Fors, Kenny Van Dueren, Ludovic Brevers, Julien Van Stippen, Cedric and Julien Lieber, Kevin Wouts, Ludovic Brevers, Kevin Wouts en Robin Bakens
Italian Championship in Montevarchi
-The Italian championship has been on the rise for several years now. The participation of various factory teams, a large prize pool and the compact program (barely four races before the start of the World Cup) certainly have something to do with this. A total of 150.000 euros can be distributed and the winner can credit 60.000 euros to his bank account! Steven Frossard can defend his Italian title from Montevarchi against Tony Cairoli, David Philippaerts, Davide Guarneri (Italian MX1 champion 2 years ago), TM factory rider Anthony Boissiere, Dean Ferris and Herjan Brakke. In the MX2, the eyes are mainly on the KTM factory trio: Jeffrey Herlings, Jeremy Van Horebeek and Tixier. But Charlier, Tonkov, Lupino and three-time world champion Alessio Chiodi will now also be at the start on Sunday. Montevarchi arrives just too early for Nick Triest. Nick will be an attentive spectator and will afterwards travel to Sardinia to train there.
Spanish Championship in Albaida, Valencia
LS Honda Racing rider Jonathan Barragan will start next weekend in his own country where the start of the MXElite Spanish Championship will take place. Barragan became Spanish MX1 champion last year. DIGA Racing's José Antonio Butron and Alvaro Lozano will also head to Albaida.
