Stewart Gate II?
There's another riot going on James Stewart erupted in the States. Stewart is said to have driven with a Dunlop rear tire in qualifying practice at Anaheim 1.
In itself nothing special were it not for the fact that his team Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota (which is also a Nascar team...) has a contract with Pirelli. It is also striking that the rear tire in question was a 'factory' Dunlop. In any case, it allowed Stewart to set the best qualifying time. And Dunlop competition boss Broc Glover was not happy about that because Stewart is no longer an official Dunlop driver. Stewart is said to have retained the Dunlop rear tire from last season when he rode with the San Manuel Yamaha team.
An employee of the JGR Toyota team told our American colleagues from Racer X that the team had indeed experimented with a Dunlop tire. In addition, that JGR Toyota employee also admitted that Stewart had trained with a Bridgestone front tire. Riding the Dunlop and Bridgestone tires allowed Stewart to finalize the setup of his JGR Yamaha YZ450F.
