Reed dominates LA, Dungey new leader
Chad Reed became the third winner of as many races yesterday at LA's Dodger Stadium. After Villopoto in Anheim and Dungey in Phoenix last week, it was now the Australian who came out on top. In another exciting final, which had to be restarted after a heavy crash by Canard and Morais, Weimer quickly passed for the lead and then led until the finish. Stewart was second for a long time but made another mistake and eventually finished third. Dungey didn't go too offensive, which paid off in the end. He finished second and takes over the lead from Villopoto, who finished fourth.
For Canard the agony seems unstoppable. Both were unconscious, Canard eventually escaped unscathed, but still had to stay in the hospital for observation. Morais, for his part, has a broken jaw and a severe concussion and is currently undergoing some tests.
UPDATED : According to some sources, Canard has a T10 and T12 vertebral fracture and must undergo surgery this evening. Morais also has three fractures in his neck but does not need to be operated on for the time being. He will still undergo an MRI scan.
In the Lites class, Tomac dominated the final. He shot out of the starting gate like a bullet and didn't tolerate anyone near him. Dean Wilson came second after a catch-up race and Zach Osbourne finished third, after being only relegated to third place by Wilson in the closing stages. Tyla Rattray stranded in fourth place and loses his red record to Tomac. Max Anstie and Mickael Leib, the GP and former GP rider, finished sixth and seventh respectively. Marvin Musquin had to stop the fight after a hard fall during a duel with Rattray, but escaped unscathed.
The fourth test will be held in Oakland next week
